December 2002 Holiday Party, Silent Raffle

Once again we ask you to look around your office, home office and computer areas and find those treasures that you deem unnecessary to keep any longer. We will hold our 3rd Silent Raffle at the PMUG Holiday Party in December. Sharing with other members at PMUG our long forgotten hardware and software items is probably the best second life we can give any of these things. If you came last year, you know what fun we had, if you're new to the Silent Raffle you are in for a treat. Everyone at the meeting can participate just by looking around our home or office for Apple Computer related products that have lost their usefulness to us. Bring it in for someone else to try to own. The Silent Raffle is similar to a swap meet but a little more organized and a lot fairer. Starting at 6pm the raffle will be ready to start receiving any items you bring to the meeting that you wish to donate. You will have approximately 2 hours to drop off your donation and make your choices. At 6PM we will also start selling additional raffle tickets. All PMUG members (you will have to have your name tag on) will be given 1 raffle ticket and the opportunity to buy additional tickets @ 12 tickets for $5.00. Each person will then place a ticket(s) in little cups adjoining each of the items on display. Than around 8pm I'll go around and pick out a ticket from each cup and award the winner their prize. Everyone has an equal chance to win. Of course the more tickets you buy the more choices you will be able to make. The key to a great Silent Raffle are the goodies the members bring in. If your not using the Performa at home and its just taking up space on your shelf, think about bringing it to the raffle. If your item needs some explanation please provide an index card with information about the item. Have all items marked with your last name, so if there are questions, we know whom to ask. If something is not in working order, tell us what it needs. We will be setting up an area in the front of the hall for the raffle, where the speakers usually stand for their presentation. As you come into the meeting please bring your items down to the front of the tables. We will have two additional helpers, so everyone will be taken care of. Bring as many items as you want, books, accessories, software and hardware. Just make sure your item is taken by the end of the evening if not you must take it back we cannot leave anything in the auditorium when we leave. Last year we were able to raffle off scanners, hard drives, lap top computer, printer, software, net work hubs, cables and many more treasures. This is PMUG's second fund raising event each year after annual dues. All proceeds will go to PMUG events and for new hardware, presentations, raffle and library needs. All PMUG members are encouraged to attend and participate. Schedule - Tuesday, December 17th, 2002 Jadwin Hall 6PM Jan will begin to receive any donations you bring to the holiday dinner. Dee Silver starts receiving raffle items; we also start selling additional raffle tickets. Attendees start "shopping" for the raffle prizes they want to win. 6:45PM-8PM- Dinner is served 8PM Commence raffle presentation Note: you must be in attendance to win any raffle prize.
